Air monitoring is a crucial part of any abatement project. Monitoring the air to ensure that no hazardous materials are getting out into the environment is not only beneficial to you and the workers, but to the community around you.

HEPA Filter Efficiency Testing

For abatement companies, we offer HEPA filter efficiency testing to ensure that the air entering and leaving your job site is clean and safe for the community around you.

Your First Step To A Hazard Free Home

Whether you're planning a renovation, planning to demolish your home, or just want peace of mind for you and your loved ones, you will want to start with a hazardous materials inspection.

How It Works

A hazardous materials inspection takes just a couple of hours. In that time one of our highly trained professionals will do a walk through of your home, observing any possible ACM (asbestos containing materials), lead, mould and any other hazardous materials. We then take a number of samples of each building material to not only meet but surpass our WorkSafe BC standards, and identify any other possible health threats within the property.

Analysis

Once we have collected the appropriate number of samples from your home, we then take them to be analyzed by one of the best laboratories in BC. The results of the analysis will not only show whether or not a material is hazardous or not, but also how much of a threat it poses to your health. Analysis for bulk materials can take anywhere from 1-5 business days, depending on your project and budget.

Reports

Once we've determined which, if any, materials are hazardous, we will then provide you with a full written report stating where each material is located, how much of it we found, as well as instruction on how it should be properly removed.

Did You Know… Asbestos Fibres Are Invisible To The Naked Eye?

This means that even though your project looks finished and clean, there could still be asbestos fibres floating in the air. Air monitoring gives you peace of mind knowing that the air around you is free of asbestos, as well as mould and lead, and is safe for you to breathe.

How Does It Work?

Here at DG Environmental we offer many different types of air monitoring to best suit your project. Materials such as asbestos, mould, lead and silica can pose a great risk to your health if inhaled, so its crucial to ensure none of these materials are left lingering in the air.

Some different types of air monitoring include:

Asbestos Air Monitoring

Absestos air monitoring occurs during the abatement process (removal of ACM). Pumps are set up both inside and outside of the contained work space, and monitor the amount of asbestos fibres in the air to ensure the safety of the workers handling your project, as well as the surrounding community.

Asbestos air monitoring takes a minimum of 4 hours, with results in as little as one business day.

Mould Air Monitoring

Over time, even small amounts of moisture in your home can promote the growth of mould spores. While some types of mould are more harmful than others, inhaling mould spores of any type can wreak havoc on your respiratory system.

Testing the air in your home for mould takes less than an hour of your time, and you can have peace of mind in as little as one business day.

Asbestos Air Clearance

Asbestos air clearance occurs after all ACM have been effectively removed from your home. At this stage, all surfaces have been cleaned, and any remaining dust has been glued down and secured, therefor unable to reenter the air. One of our highly trained technicians will then set up pumps inside of the secured containment to determine that the air is now clean, and can be released back into the environment.

Asbestos air clearance takes a minimum of 2.5 hours, with results in as little as one business day.

In the case of a partial renovation, asbestos air clearance can also be used to ensure that no asbestos fibres have made their way into your untouched living space.

Lead Air Monitoring

Lead is typically found in the paint used on older homes and buildings. When this paint is being removed, small dust fires are released into the air, and without proper protection, these fibres can be inhaled into your lungs. Unlike asbestos and mould, lead, when ingested, enters your blood stream, causing a variety of symptoms ranging from behavioral issues, to seizures and coma.

Lead Air Monitoring takes a minumum of a few hours, with results in as little as one business day.

HEPA Filter Efficiency Testing

Are Your Filters Working For You?

Your HEPA air filter is one of the most important components of any abatement project. The purpose of the HEPA air filter machine is to suck dirty air out of the contained space like a giant vacuum, and create a negative air pressure in the enclosure, making it difficult for asbestos fibres to exit the containment through entry points, or in the unfortunate event that a breach occurs in your containment.

Before the air inside of your containment can be released back into the environment, it must pass through a HEPA filter, located inside of your HEPA air filter machine. This special filter is designed to remove even the smallest asbestos fibres from the air, making it safe to breathe again.

Since your HEPA filter is doing such an important job, its important to ensure that your filter is working efficiently, and that it be changed frequently.

How Does It Work?

The HEPA air filter runs from the very beginning of the abatement project, up until the job has been officially cleared of all asbestos fibres.

Before you begin work, one of our highly trained HEPA filter efficiency technicians will come to your job site and test your HEPA filters, as well as your HEPA vaccum using special equipment to ensure that your filter is running properly and efficiently.

At this point, you should be able to begin work on your project. The next step is to begin air monitoring on the outside of the containment, click here to go to air monitoring.
